Greenberg Traurig Chicago Attorneys Michael Cedillos and Barry Horwitz Honored by LAF

CHICAGO – Dec. 14, 2015 – Attorneys Michael Cedillos and Barry Horwitz of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP were honored Dec. 8 by LAF (formerly the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago) for their contributions to the Young Professionals Board (YPB). Both are board members of the YPB.

Horwitz received the Ambassador of the Year Award for his outstanding contributions to raising LAF’s profile in the Chicago community this year. He also, for the second year in a row, received the Corporate Ambassador Award for his advocacy on behalf of LAF in securing corporate support for their work. Upon presenting Horwitz with the award, Jaclyn Stacy, associate director of external relations at LAF, remarked, “It is safe to say that LAF would never have reached the number of people it did this year without the passion and dedication Barry Horwitz demonstrated for our work by raising visibility for us across a broad swath of the Chicago legal community in 2015.”

Cedillos received the Corporate Advocate Award for her advocacy on behalf of LAF in securing corporate support for their work. In 2014, Cedillos received the Corporate Ambassador Award.

According to LAF, for the past 40 years it has provided free professional legal services to people living in poverty in metropolitan Chicago.

Cedillos is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice. She focuses on assisting clients with commercial litigation matters. These include business disputes, banking litigation involving negotiable instruments under the Uniform Commercial Code, and consumer credit cards, loan participations, and bankruptcy litigation. She represents brokerage firms and their management in various customer-initiated FINRA arbitration proceedings, and represents developers, lenders, and retailers in real estate and real estate financing litigation.

Also an associate, Horwitz works in the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Practice and focuses on several areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis in patent and trademark litigation; trademark, trade secret, and unfair competition counseling; and copyright enforcement. He has wide-ranging experience in a variety of electronic technologies, including digital communications systems, disc drive servos, and LCD systems.
