Greenberg Traurig Ranked No. 3 Law Firm Lobby Practice in Texas by Capitol Inside

AUSTIN – March 24, 2015 – International law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has been ranked No. 3 among the top law firm lobbying practices in Texas by Capitol Inside’s 2015 Lobby Power Rankings list. The firm has moved up from its No. 5 position last year. In addition to Greenberg Traurig’s recognition, shareholders Demetrius G. McDaniel (ranked No. 7) and James Grace, Jr. (ranked No. 29) were named among the Top Texas Lobbyists. Thomas J. Bond (ranked No. 8) has been recognized on the list of Former State Agency Head Lobbyists.

McDaniel, chair of the firm's Texas Government Law & Policy Practice, has been ranked among the top 10 lobbyists in Texas since 2003. He counsels and provides advocacy for Fortune 500 and other large private and public sector clients on federal, state and local legal and public policy matters. His broad knowledge of federal and state government allows him to collaboratively develop strategies to help clients solve complex problems that have a government origin or nexus. McDaniel consults with clients on their strategic objectives and provides advice on important issues that will enhance their business opportunities, increase their compliance with laws and regulations, and assist them in building internal systems to prevent problems from occurring with all levels of government.

Grace advises and advocates for a wide variety of clients on federal, state and local public policy matters. His deep knowledge of and experience with governments and political campaigns at virtually all levels allow him to assist with complex government relations problems. Grace enhances and protects the firm’s clients’ business opportunities by monitoring political developments and formulating and implementing strategies to help clients achieve their government relations objectives. He previously served as director of Texas State relations and senior counsel at CenterPoint Energy, Inc.

Bond is co-chair of the firm's Government Law & Policy and Insurance Regulatory & Transactions groups. He focuses his practice on insurance and regulatory law both in Texas and on a national basis. His clients include insurance holding companies, life, health and property liability companies, trade associations, reinsurers, health maintenance organizations, title underwriters and agencies, corporate insurance agencies, commercial insured, and the insurance regulators of other states. Bond has managed a number of insurance industry strategic initiatives at the Texas legislature in the areas of workers compensation, health insurance and managed care, credit and specialty lines coverages, broking and regulated transactions, and insurance regulation and taxation.
