Four Greenberg Traurig Entertainment and Media Attorneys Recognized by The Hollywood Reporter

Tom Ara, Joel Katz, and Mathew Rosengart Named to 2015 ‘Power Lawyers’ List; Bobby Rosenbloum featured for music industry work

NEW YORK – April 29, 2015 – Tom K. Ara, Joel A. Katz, and Mathew S. Rosengart, shareholders at international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, have been featured in The Hollywood Reporter’s 2015 “Power Lawyers” list. The list includes 100 attorneys whose work behind the scenes most influences the entertainment business. Additionally, shareholder Bobby Rosenbloum is included in the publication’s “Who Orchestrate Music's Biggest Deals” section, which features 10 top attorneys in the music industry.

Ara, a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Los Angeles Entertainment and Media Practice, is listed in the ‘Corporate Lawyers’ category.  He is noted for handling the financing and distribution for The Weinstein Co.’s (TWC) largest TV deal ever (Netflix’s $90 million check for Marco Polo) as well as, TWC's deal for Netflix's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel and advising Beijing-based DMG Entertainment on its U.S. investments. Ara focuses his practice on entertainment and media industry transactions. He represents an array of banks, private equity groups, hedge funds, and investors and borrowers in an assortment of financing and strategic industry transactions. In addition, he advises feature film studios, television networks, production companies, and Internet and mobile-based content producers and distributors in corporate transactions as well as in the development, production, and distribution of motion picture, television, and new media content. 

Katz, chairman of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Entertainment and Media Practice, is listed in the ‘Talent Lawyers’ category. He is noted for negotiating the deal for George Strait’s The Cowboy Rides Away Tour (the Arlington, Texas, gig set the record for the largest indoor concert in North America). Katz also represented Michael Jackson’s estate in a deal with BMI for rights to his public performances and handles Nashville-based record label Big Machine, where Taylor Swift is signed. Katz, who is former chairman of the American Bar Association's Entertainment & Sports Law Section, is widely recognized as a leader in the field of entertainment law. His clients include some of the world's most well-known entertainers, music producers, record companies, concert promoters and Fortune 500 companies.

Rosenbloum, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta Entertainment and Media Practice, is noted for specializing in digital technology and represents dozens of leading tech companies that negotiate licensing deals with music labels. Rosenbloum has wide-ranging experience negotiating complex content agreements with record companies, music publishing companies, music publishing rights organizations, motion picture studios, television networks, and various independent contact providers and aggregators.

Rosengart, a shareholder in the Litigation Practice at Greenberg Traurig, is listed in the ‘Litigators’ category.  A former law clerk to Justice David Souter on the N.H. Supreme Court, he is noted for representing a host of celebrity clients in entertainment matters.  Rosengart’s practice focuses on entertainment and complex commercial litigation.  A former federal prosecutor, with substantial and diverse experience in entertainment litigation, Rosengart is noted for his trial experience and expertise, and for representing a number of Academy-Award-nominated writers, directors, and actors, as well as film production companies in high-profile entertainment litigation matters ranging from breach of contract to defamation to a range of film and television disputes.
