Eight Greenberg Traurig Orlando Attorneys Participated in Pro Bono Legal Advice Wills Clinics Following Pulse Nightclub Tragedy

ORLANDO, Fla. – Sept. 23, 2016 – Eight attorneys from the Orlando office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. joined forces with others in the Central Florida legal community to provide legal advice clinics earlier this month that were designed to benefit Pulse survivors, their families, and the community at large.

Following the tragic event that occurred on June 12, it became clear that many people do not have a living will and advance directive. The idea was to help ensure that members of the community have these important legal documents in place so they do not have to deal with these challenges during moments of crisis or grief.

Legal leaders throughout Central Florida came together to address a need that, until now, many individuals had not even considered. The eight participating attorneys from the Orlando office of Greenberg Traurig included: Ashton Bligh, Joshua Brown, Gregory Herbert, Julie Kendig-Schrader, Corinne LaGosh, Linda Reck, Alan Sheppard, Jr., and Travis Walker.

These free legal advice clinics, which were coordinated in part by Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida and The Florida Bar Foundation, aimed to educate and guide the public through the process of completing emergency planning legal documents. Those who attended the clinics on Sept. 9 and 10 left with fully executed wills and advance directives.

Orlando L. Evora, Co-Managing Shareholder of the Orlando office of Greenberg Traurig, stated: “We’re only about 100 days out from the tragedy that occurred at Pulse, so it is still difficult to fully come to grips with what occurred in Our City Beautiful. But I am filled with pride when I see the different ways the Orlando community has come together to support one another in the aftermath of that tragedy, and this is no exception. The legal community recognized a need that we could help fulfill, and we were glad to provide this pro bono service to Central Floridians.”
