'Guy Incognito' Wins Law Rocks Chicago Benefit Battle of the Bands Concert

CHICAGO – Oct. 2, 2018 – Members of Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Chicago office performing as “Guy Incognito” won at the Law Rocks Chicago battle-of-the-bands-styled benefit concert held Sept. 27 at Lincoln Hall. Greenberg Traurig was also a sponsor of the event, an annual concert that features bands of lawyers playing to raise cash donations for local charities.

Performing as “Guy Incognito” were Greenberg Traurig Intellectual Property Practice Shareholder Barry R. Horwitz (on guitar and vocals) and Litigation Practice Associate Kyle L. Flynn (on guitar) Loeb & Loeb’s Rob Newman (on keyboard) and Ryan Martin (on bass), Alex Howe (on guitar), and Scott Hinden (on drums). The group battled against two other bands from Chicago law firms.

Guy Incognito played on behalf of LAF Chicago, a non-profit organization that provides free legal services in non-criminal matters to people living in poverty in metropolitan Chicago. As the winning band, Guy Incognito raised over $7,000 for the organization.

The winning band was selected based on four factors: sponsorship dollars raised and ticket sales, donations raised, judges’ score, and audience vote. The net event proceeds are shared between each band’s selected charity, with the winning band’s designated charity receiving the largest donation of the night.

Greenberg Traurig’s San Francisco and New York offices are also strong supporters of Law Rocks concerts. In April 2018, “The Latent Defects” performed at Law Rocks San Francisco for the Family Violence Appellate Project and “The Meltones,” Greenberg Traurig’s house band, have won Law Rocks NYC for four consecutive years. On Nov. 8, The Meltones will defend their title and playing at Law Rocks NYC at Gramercy Theatre in support of The Child Center of New York.
