William Mack Receives University at Albany Alumni Association Award

ALBANY – MAY 1, 2018 – William B. Mack, a shareholder in the Financial Regulatory & Compliance and Government Law & Policy practices in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s New York City office, has received the 2018 “Excellence in Public Service” award from the University at Albany Alumni Association. He was nominated by Mark S. Weprin, a fellow Government Law & Policy shareholder in the firm’s New York office.

The “Excellence in Public Service” award recognizes alumni from the University at Albany who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to local, state, or national communities through public service. Mack and the other award recipients were honored at the University at Albany Alumni Association Excellence Awards Gala at the Albany Country Club in Voorheesville on April 28.

Mack previously served as Principal Counsel for Enforcement at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Before FINRA, he was the Director of the Executive Secretariat in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Mack also served as a Deputy Associate Counsel at the White House under President Obama, advising primarily on appointments and investigations, and clerked for Judge Robert L. Carter in the Southern District of New York.

Mack focuses his practice on advising companies on regulatory and compliance matters relating to the Securities and Exchange Commission regulations, the Exchange Act, Anti-Money Laundering laws and FINRA rules. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America and City & State’s "New York City 40 under 40 Rising Stars.” Mack is also a Term Member on the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the Board of Directors at the Hebrew Language Academy. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the State University of New York at Albany.
