CHICAGO – June 14, 2018 – Francis A. Citera, a shareholder in the Chicago office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, spoke at the “Updates and Evaluations of the Mandatory Initial Discovery Pilot Program” panel discussion. The program, co-sponsored by the Federal Bar Association, Chicago Chapter, and the Seventh Circuit Pilot Program on Electronic Discovery, was held June 13 at the Dirksen United States Courthouse in Chicago.
The Northern District of Illinois’ Mandatory Initial Discovery Pilot Program took effect a year ago. This program created a new set of early discovery disclosure responsibilities and obligations on the vast majority of civil litigants appearing in cases filed in the District. As a panelist, Citera discussed working under the program, including a discussion of the implications for parties’ eDiscovery obligations.
Citera is co-chair of the firm's Products Liability & Mass Torts Practice and co-chair of the Chicago Litigation Practice. He has over 30 years of experience defending toxic tort actions and other complex litigation in both federal and state courts. He has tried many cases, including an action by the government to enforce a unilateral administrative order, an allocation case among potentially responsible parties, and a complex product liability, wrongful death case.
