Greenberg Traurig's Liz Dudek and Fred Karlinsky Participate in FAHP Conference

Orlando, FL – Sept. 12, 2018 – Liz Dudek, Director of Health Care Affairs for global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. and Fred E. Karlinsky co-chair of the firm’s Insurance Regulatory and Transactions Practice participated in the 2018 Florida Association of Health Plans (FAHP) Conference Sept. 5-7 in Orlando, Florida.

Dudek moderated a general morning session Sept. 7 titled, “Connecting Florida’s Health Care Community.” The panel discussion included the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Secretary Justice Senior, Deputy Secretary for Health Quality Assurance Molly McKinstry, and Deputy Secretary for Medicaid Beth Kidder.

Karlinsky moderated the Insurance Commissioners Roundtable Sept. 6. The discussion included David Altmaier, Florida Commissioner, Office of Insurance Regulation; James J. Donelon, Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance; Ralph Hudgens, Georgia Insurance Commissioner; Kevin McCarty, former Florida Commissioner, Office of Insurance Regulation; and Bob Williams, Mississippi, Director of Life & Health Actuarial.

Based in Greenberg Traurig’s Tallahassee office, Dudek is Director of Healthcare Affairs, and is part of the firm’s state and national Health & FDA Business Practice, as well as the Government Law & Policy Practice. She helps the firm’s clients navigate the healthcare system, interact with agencies, and better understand legislative affairs and their accompanying issues. Her career in Florida’s state government spanned over 40 years across a variety of senior management positions including Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration and Deputy Secretary of Health Quality Assurance. As Secretary, Dudek oversaw one of the largest Medicaid programs in the nation. Under her administration, the Agency successfully implemented the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program and the establishment of the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse. She has worked extensively with health care facilities, providers, and insurers.

A Shareholder in the Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee offices of Greenberg Traurig, Karlinsky has more 25 years of experience representing the interests of insurers, reinsurers and a wide variety of other insurance-related entities on their regulatory, transactional, corporate and governmental affairs matters. He also is experienced in transactional law, executive and legislative governmental affairs, administrative law, and corporate representation. In addition, Karlinsky has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Florida State University College of Law since 2008, where he teaches a course on Insurance Law and Risk Management.
