Greenberg Traurig Amsterdam Hosts Investing in Climate Friendly Forestry & Agriculture Forum

AMSTERDAM – April 11, 2019 – Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Amsterdam office hosted the Investing in Climate Friendly Forestry & Agriculture Forum, coordinated by ClimateCircle, in partnership with Decarbonized.org.

The educational event gathered international and local experts, investors, and government officials for a series of in-depth sessions and panel discussions on investing into sustainable forest, climate friendly forestry, soil micronutrients, and hydroponics solutions. Attendees learned how blended finance, risk mitigation, satellite imagery, REDD+, and legal structures can enhance deployment of capital at scale.

“Based on supporting pioneering business models solving pressing global issues for almost a decade, we learned you need different actors, and investors along the risk-return impact continuum to make these solutions work and solve issues at scale. All these actors provide value to each other but their worlds are separate. By bringing them together, sharing new developments, supporting in-depth expertise and providing the opportunity for experienced investors to share lessons learned with investors exploring the space, we catalyzed actions to collaborate and bring projects to scale”, said Saskia Reus-Makkink, CEO ClimateCircle.

“Greenberg Traurig was honored to host this wonderful event, and it was a pleasure to participate as one of the speakers,” said Thomas van der Vliet, co-managing shareholder of the firm’s Amsterdam office. “It was exciting to get updated by the various experts from so many different angles, all committed to keeping climate action on the top of the global agenda.”
