Berlin, 28 June 2019 – Germany's restructuring unit GT Restructuring has taken over the advice of Geschenkidee D&A GmbH, which has filed for insolvency at the Berlin Charlottenburg Local Court. Since 24 June, the company with its 34 employees has been run by the provisional insolvency administrator Christian Köhler-Ma. He has already started initial talks with investors and intends to form a rescue company.
Founded in Berlin in 2012, the company offers individual gift ideas tailored to the customer. In addition to a gift finder, the online shop offers numerous original gifts with an experience character for special occasions such as weddings or special receptions. With this concept, Geschenkidee D&A grew to 125 employees. High expenditures for online marketing, strong competition and tax burdens had led to dismissals and now to insolvency. The 34 employees will receive insolvency compensation until the end of August. Insolvency is to be opened at the beginning of September. A creditors' committee is currently being formed.
"I am confident we can find an investor and form a rescue company. I have already held the first promising talks. The company is pursuing a promising business idea and has a strong domain with the website Geschenkidee.de," explained the provisional insolvency administrator, lawyer Christian Köhler-Ma of GT Restructuring, the restructuring unit of Greenberg Traurig in Germany.
