MIAMI – July 15, 2021 – Five Greenberg Traurig attorneys from the firm’s Environmental Practice will speak at the Florida Chamber Foundation’s 35th Annual Environmental Permitting Summer School to be held from July 20-23 at the JW Marriott in Marco Island, Florida.
The annual event aims to keep Florida Chamber of Commerce members and organizations informed of environmental and growth management laws and regulations affecting Florida and the nation. It is the largest event of its kind in the state and is attended by more than 1200 attorneys, consultants, engineers, state and local government officials, developers, landowners, and others who are interested in environmental issues.

Barsh is co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Environmental Practice. Based in the firm’s Miami office, she represents public and private clients on an array of environmental regulatory, permitting and litigation matters, ranging from transactional support and due diligence to environmental assessment and liability matters, climate change, wetlands and coastal permitting and complex land use projects. Barsh serves as a key legal advisor for clients navigating the complex range of compliance issues and enforcement cases that affect land development throughout Florida and nationally.

Weinstein chairs the firm’s national Environmental & Toxic Torts Litigation Practice and is the managing shareholder of the firm’s Tampa office. He is a “go to” litigator and strategist for high-stakes and complex civil and white-collar litigation, including environmental, toxic tort, real estate, land use, business, and other challenging matters.
“It is increasingly important for business owners and companies throughout Florida to understand how to protect themselves and their business the threat of civil and criminal environmental liability,” Weinstein said. “I plan to offer attendees tips on how best to safeguard themselves against potential exposure in both of these contexts.”
Based in the Tallahassee office, Nicholson-Choice has 30 years of government, environmental, land use, brownfields, and construction legal experience, with an emphasis in negotiating and resolving complex environmental permitting, due diligence, and litigation matters for real estate, commercial foreclosures, bankruptcy cases, environmental investigations, remediation projects, and brownfields development. She helps clients evaluate risks and costs associated with potential environmental cleanup and third-party liability, as well as securing regulatory approvals for complex contamination remediation projects.
Rappold, who is based in the Washington, D.C. office, focuses her practice on federal and state regulatory issues related to energy, manufacturing, and the environment. She has substantial litigation experience and advises clients on regulatory compliance as well as the environmental, safety, and health aspects of numerous business and real estate transactions, including water, air, and chemical hazards. Rappold offers clients perspective gained through years of service at senior levels of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Torres is the Administrative Shareholder of the Tampa Office and concentrates his practice on business and complex commercial litigation, toxic tort defense, environmental litigation, and land use litigation. He has represented clients in the areas of securities litigation and enforcement, white collar litigation, and appeals, and also has experience in the areas of corporate and securities law.
