Joel Katz is the Founding Chairman of the firm’s Global Entertainment and Media Practice and the Founding Shareholder of the Atlanta Office.   • Negotiated and closed the transaction between Maverick Management and Spalding Entertainment with Live Nation.
  • Negotiated the sale of fifty percent of Messina Touring Group to AEG.
  • Negotiated the employment agreement and then negotiated the termination of the employment agreement between John Zarling and Sony Music Nashville.
  • Negotiated on behalf of Randy Goodman, a four-year extension of his employment agreement serving as the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Sony Music Nashville.

  • Negotiation and consummation on behalf of The Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences a new ten-year television contract with the Univision network, valued at over 250 million dollars.
  • Negotiation of the employment agreement for Tom Corson with Warner Bros Records making Mr. Corson the Co-Chairman & COO of Warner Bros. Records.
  • Assisted and established the funding of Hitco Entertainment, a new record label whose principals are L.A. Reid, Charles Goldstuck, and Fertitta Capital, and arranged the financing by Raine Partners.
  • As the Recording Academy’s General Counsel worked with the Officers and the management team in establishing the task force designed to improve “female advancement” and assisted in commencing the search for a new CEO and President to succeed Neil Portnow, after the expiration of his term.
  • As the new Chairman of the Board reconstructed the T.J. Martell Foundation’s Board of Trustees and created a new system for managing the entire foundation.
