Laura S. Norman represents property owners, developers, private equity funds, educational institutions, REITs, institutional lenders and investors in a wide variety of real estate transactions. A significant portion of her practice is the creation, disposition, acquisition and financing of commercial condominiums, some of which are among the largest projects in Manhattan.



  • Represented General Growth Properties and Wharton Properties in conversion of Crown Building to commercial condominium as part of their $1.78 billion acquisition of the trophy office building.
  • Represented Rockwood Capital, Jamestown, Crown Acquisitions and Murray Hill Properties in connection with the condominium conversion of 530 Fifth Avenue, a 500,000 square foot office building, as part of $595 million sale to Thor Equities, RXR Realty and General Growth Properties.
  • Representation of Marymount Manhattan College in acquisition, disposition, leasing and management of real estate assets, including the acquisition, financing and development of a condominium for dormitory and residential housing and subsequent refinancing and other transactional matters.
  • Represented Invesco Realty Advisors in acquisition of several condominium properties in New York City.
  • Advised major financial institution on creation and acquisition of commercial condominium units totaling approximately 286,000 square feet in the first commercial condominium complex under construction in Mumbai, India. 
  • Represented Inditex, the parent company of Spanish clothing store Zara, in the record setting purchase of a 39,000 square foot retail condominium unit, part of a $1 billion retail block front property at 666 Fifth Avenue. 
  • Represented Inditex, in condominium conversion of prime Soho property at  503 Broadway as part of its $280 million acquisition of 47,361 square foot retail condominium unit for Zara store.
  • Represented a global financial institution in the conversion of its 14 story headquarters into a 2 unit commercial condominium and the sale of one of the units to a major university. 
  • Represented Manhattan private school in sale of real estate assets and acquisition of real property for development of new campus
  • Represented a public REIT in acquisition of a condominium complex consisting of five high-rise buildings on Manhattan’s Upper West Side for $630 million. 
  • Represented World Market Center Venture in the acquisition, financing and development of a 61 acre, 7.5 million square foot international home furnishings showroom, marketplace and convention center in Las Vegas and subsequent transfer of its assets to International Market Centers as part of an approximately $1 billion transaction to unite World Market Center with the home furnishings and gift industries showroom complex in High Point, North Carolina (13 buildings/10.6 million square feet). 
  • Represented sponsor in conversion of 457 unit building at 88 Greenwich Street, New York City to a residential condominium. 
  • Represented joint venture in acquisition, financing, and condominium conversion of a 32 story, 1,098,000 square foot office building in downtown Manhattan. 
  • Represented landlord in leasing of 111 Eighth Avenue, the third largest building in New York City, containing approximately 2.8 million square feet. 
  • Represented MTA in connection with the development and conversion of the Atlantic Avenue LIRR Terminal into a retail center and office building condominium complex. 
  • Represented the owners in the conversion of 17 Battery Place to a commercial condominium. 
  • Represented developer in promulgation of commercial condominium offering plan to convert a 12 story office building at 3 Dag Hammarskjold Plaza to a 24 unit commercial condominium and sale of units for a total offering price in excess of $90 million.
