Shiran Zohar


Shiran Zohar focuses her practice on a range of litigation matters, including Proposition 65 and government litigation, while also concentrating on regulatory issues affecting companies doing business in California. She has experience working through the numerous stages of litigation, including pre-suit consultations, through discovery, class certification, summary judgment, trial and post-trial appeal.

Shiran represents clients from a variety of industries including oil & gas, pharmaceutical, agriculture, technology, and financial services. She also maintains an active pro bono practice. Shiran represents clients in both state and federal courts, as well as in mediation and multidistrict litigation.

  • Represented a biotechnology company in litigation brought by grains exporter in Chapter 11 bankruptcy alleging damages arising out of the commercialization of a genetically modified corn trait.°
  • Represented a defense contractor in obtaining a dismissal with prejudice in a breach of contract dispute related to a major federal government contract.°
  • Represented a power tool company in breach of contract and fraud action against warehousing and logistics provider that failed to provide promised services. The case settled before trial.°
  • Represented a security company in litigation against a bitcoin company for theft of intellectual property. The case settled before trial.°
  • Represented a pharmaceutical company in its defense against putative statewide class action alleging false claims related to the expiration dates on over-the-counter medication labels.°
  • Represented an agrochemical company in multi-district litigation involving tens of thousands of class action and individual lawsuits alleging damages because of China’s non-approval of corn seeds for import.°
  • Represented an oil company in multi-district litigation arising out of the April 20, 2010, Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion and fire and resulting oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.°
  • Represented a hedge fund company in federal securities litigation brought by Botox-maker Allergan, Inc.’s shareholders relating to an unsolicited merger proposal of over $50 billion.°
  • Advised an Alaska corporation on corporate best practices and drafting board member code of conduct and other election and proxy materials.°
  • Represented an Alaska corporation in ongoing shareholder litigations over access to books and records, director qualifications, and various corporate governance issues. Obtained a defense verdict that was upheld on appeal by the Alaska Supreme Court.°
  • Represented an individual indicted on insider trading and tender offer fraud charges along with a former all-star baseball player and a prominent California attorney. In 2013, obtained a post-indictment dismissal of the charges.°
  • Represented Medi-Cal recipients in lawsuit against Los Angeles County for unlawful termination of benefits. Writ issued against the County after a hearing on the merits.°
  • Obtained a reversal of the dismissal of a white-collar defendant’s Bivens action after oral argument in the Ninth Circuit.°
  • Represented a Honduran transgender woman seeking asylum. Briefed and argued case before Article I immigration judge and obtained a removal of withholding.°
  • Represented low-income residents of Fontana in a lawsuit against city for housing discrimination.°
