On Wednesday, March 17, GT Shareholder Marc Trachtenberg (CHI) will present the session, "Confronting Misuse in Domains on a Finite Budget." The domain space continues to challenge brand owners as the landscape evolves, with subdomains and those outside of ICANN’s control offering new opportunities for bad actors. While tools for addressing the challenges are limited and often costly, there are options for tackling misuse and keeping costs down. The session will focus on ICANN, unpacking the growing concerns around subdomains and how to police them, and quasi domains: what they are and why they should be monitored.
Trachtenberg will also present the masterclass, "Staying Ahead of Online Infringers Despite Budgetary Constraints," on Friday, March 19. The COVID-19 pandemic further accelerated the shift to online spending and while brands quickly followed suit, infringers were often already one step ahead. This panel will explore the latest techniques and tactics infringers are using, as well as the best practices companies are using to bridge the gap and crack down.
