Boca Raton, Fla. (April 10, 2014) – Bruce C. Rosetto, a Corporate & Securities Shareholder with international law firm Greenberg Traurig and co-managing shareholder of the firm’s Boca Raton, Fla., office, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority. The organization operates the Research Park at Florida Atlantic University, which provides a supportive environment for fostering the growth of technology companies engaged in the research and development of new and innovative products.
In his role as Chairman, Rosetto will help lead the organization’s continued expansion and its mission of establishing the Research Park at FAU as the state’s premier research and development destination for innovative technology businesses. He will help lead the organization’s initiatives to attract research-oriented businesses and startups in the technology and life sciences fields and also support its expansion into new facilities in Palm Beach and Broward counties to meet the growing demand for these services. Rosetto, who has been a board member for three years, will serve a one-year term as chairman.
The Research Park at FAU, with two campuses in Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach, Fla., was established in 1985. The 94.3-acre facility is the only state university-affiliated research park in South Florida and home to 24 high-tech, high-wage companies and five support organizations. In addition, the Research Park at FAU operates the Technology Business Incubator, which is home to the New World Angels, a structured angel investor group, as well as the Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research, a clearinghouse for Florida’s technology transfer offices and other publicly funded research institutes.
“Palm Beach and Broward counties are the locus of a growing entrepreneurial hub in technology and life sciences, fueled by a skilled labor market that has been further strengthened by the local establishment of the Scripps Research Institute and Max Planck Florida Institute,” Rosetto said. “I am honored to lead the Research Park at such a pivotal time as we align with new partners, expand our facilities and cultivate innovation in South Florida.”
At Greenberg Traurig, Rosetto focuses his law practice on representing entrepreneurs and small- to middle-market public companies throughout the United States in a variety of industries, including life sciences, bio-tech, banking, environmental services, manufacturing, technology, entertainment and more. His work with the Research Park is an extension of his active involvement and leadership within organizations dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and startups. His other involvement includes: Member, Hedge Fund Task Force for Palm Beach Business Development Board; Director, Enterprise Development Corporation (Former Chairman); Member, Florida Venture Forum; Member, Gold Coast Venture Capital Association; and Member, Palm Beach Business Development Board.
