Greenberg Traurig Patent Attorney David J. Dykeman Will Be a Keynote Speaker at Portugal Ventures Day in Lisbon, Portugal

BOSTON (September 16, 2014)David J. Dykeman, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Life Sciences & Medical Technology Group and co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property (IP) Group in Boston, will be a keynote speaker at the Second Annual Portugal Ventures Day in Lisbon, Portugal on September 18, 2014.

Dykeman’s keynote address is titled “Maximizing the Value of Intellectual Property for Venture-Backed Start-Ups.”. He will speak on the fundamentals of IP and patent protection strategy for early stage and mature high-tech companies, and will provide in-depth analysis for life sciences and medical technology companies. Dykeman will also discuss the growing impact of patent trolls on the start-up ecosystem, and will address best practices for building a strong IP portfolio, as well as mistakes to avoid. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how to develop, protect and monetize IP assets in the era of U.S. and European patent reform.

A registered patent attorney with over 18 years of experience in patents, intellectual property, and licensing, Dykeman focuses his practice on securing strategic worldwide intellectual property protection and related business strategy for high-tech clients, with particular expertise in medical devices, life sciences, biotechnology and healthcare IT.  Dykeman is the founding co-chair of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Medical Devices Committee, and serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Medical Device + Diagnostic Industry (MD+DI) Magazine.

An author of over 45 articles and a speaker at over 40 conferences on medical devices and life sciences intellectual property, Dykeman was honored as one of “40 Medtech Innovators Under 40” by MD+DI Magazine, and was named one of the top 250 Patent and Technology Licensing Practitioners in the world by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Magazine.
