BOCA RATON, Fla. – March 23, 2015 – The Boca Raton office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. will participate in the JDRF (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) One Walk on March 28, 2015 at Mizner Park in Boca Raton. As a fundraising team, the firm is raising money and awareness for Type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Greenberg Traurig is also a top sponsor of the JDRF One Walk.
Dennis W. Hillier, a shareholder in the Boca Raton Real Estate Practice upped the ante with a fundraising challenge for the office’s attorneys: Hillier has pledged to donate $5 for every mile walked by each member of Team Greenberg Traurig. Hillier’s challenge has so far been matched by more than half of all attorneys in the Boca Raton office.
Rebecca G. DiStefano, a shareholder in the Boca Raton Corporate & Securities Practice, who was eager to accept Hillier’s challenge, serves as captain of the firm’s fundraising team as well as JDRF Chief Event Champion.
“I am thrilled with the outpouring of support from Greenberg Traurig in fundraising for our research initiatives. The work of our Team Greenberg Traurig enables more advanced technologies and therapies and we believe, will ultimately, result in a biological cure for T1D,” said DiStefano, whose 10-year-old son was diagnosed T1D in 2011.
DiStefano was appointed to the Board of Directors of JDRF of Greater Palm Beach County in 2013.
