Greenberg Traurig’s Justin Prochnow and Greg Sperla to Present at Nutrition Law Symposium

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Oct. 11, 2016 – Greenberg Traurig, LLP attorneys Justin Prochnow and Greg Sperla will be presenting at the 12th Annual Nutrition Law Symposium in Lehi, Utah October 14.

Prochnow will be presenting on the “FDA/GMP” panel, focusing on regulatory compliance, including compliance with:

  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for dietary supplements;
  • Inspections; 
  • Responding to 483s and warning letters; and
  • Revisions to the Federal Labeling Regulations.

Sperla will be presenting on the “California Top 10” panel, which will focus on the unique California laws that affect the supplement industry. The discussion will highlight the top 10 regulations that may be unknown to companies in the industry but that have potential for enormous impact. These include:

  • Slack-fill laws
  • Beverage container stewardship
  • California Air Resource Board Annual Report Requirement (for cosmetic producers)
  • Prop. 65 updates.

Prochnow, co-lead of the firm’s Food & Beverage Group, is a shareholder in the firm’s Denver office. His practice is focused on assisting companies with regulatory, business, and legal needs in the beverage, food, dietary supplement, cosmetic, medical device, and OTC industries. Prochnow works closely with companies to ensure regulatory compliance with statutes and regulations enforced by the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission and other regulatory agencies, including the review of product labels, advertising, websites, and other marketing materials.

Sperla, an associate in the firm’s Sacramento office, advises businesses and trade associations on regulatory compliance, litigation, and government affairs. He regularly represents national consumer product companies on issues related to California and federal compliance, including product safety, product registration, labeling, claims/marketing and licensing, among other areas.
