Greenberg Traurig’s Paul M. Seby Presented at the Annual Law of the Rio Grande Conference

SANTA FE, New Mexico – April 29, 2016 – Paul M. Seby, a shareholder in the Environmental Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, presented April 15 at the 16th Annual Law of the Rio Grande Conference. The two-day event brought experts and practitioners from across three states to discuss current law and policies related to the river. Seby spoke about the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Army Corps of Engineers controversial “Water of the U.S.” (WOTUS) Rule. The WOTUS Rule is the subject of litigation in federal courts across the country, and Seby is involved in these cases on behalf of the State of North Dakota as a Special Assistant Attorney General.

Seby is a leading practitioner in the Rocky Mountain region, with nearly 25 years' experience analyzing  myriad environmental issues. He counsels public and private clients in the energy, mining, manufacturing, and service industries on how to navigate and successfully operate within the complex framework of state and federal environmental regulations and policies. Seby has vast experience prosecuting cases to enforce and overturn administrative agency regulations and decisions, and has defended clients in federal and state enforcement proceedings, in appearances before the U.S. Supreme Court, several U.S. Courts of Appeal, and the Colorado Supreme Court, among others. Bearing in mind that a successful outcome is often a combination of traditional and non-traditional legal strategy, Seby leverages his experience to negotiate with government agencies and adversary groups.

Greenberg Traurig was recognized as “Law Firm of the Year” for environmental law in the U.S. News-Best Lawyers 2016 edition of Best Law Firms.
