Greenberg Traurig’s Eleanor (Miki) A. Kolton to Speak at HIPAA Compliance Boot Camp Seminar on September 22

Fairfax, VA – Sept. 21, 2016 – Eleanor (Miki) A. Kolton, of counsel in the Health & FDA Business Practice at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will speak during the National Business Institute’s HIPAA Compliance Boot Camp Training Seminar. The session is entitled “Handling Medical Record Confidentiality Breaches: Best Practices for Worst –Case Scenarios” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. EST Sept. 22, 2016.

The seminar will provide an analysis of the strict requirements, ambiguous definitions, growing security threats, and more that can make HIPAA compliance a challenging endeavor. The speakers will help practitioners and their clients remain effective in everyday practice while assisting to ensure full compliance with HIPAA.

Key topics include: exploring the essentials of HIPAA; picking up cutting-edge security techniques and technologies; knowing what is and is not permissible when using various forms of electronic communications; protecting against security threats; and analyzing HIPAA enforcement trends.

Kolton has wide-ranging legal, administrative, and management experience in medical practice law; HIPAA, Stark, Medicare, and CMS regulations; the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC); and other civil and administrative law areas. She possesses executive corporate experience and broad clinical background in a variety of health care settings, including the ability to understand scientific and medical community cultures, business challenges, and concerns. Before joining Greenberg Traurig, Kolton acted as a consultant to XCEL Healthcare and served as Executive Director of Pharmaceutical Programs and Director of Quality Improvement and Risk Management at OPTIONS Health Care, Inc. She holds a master's degree in nursing and is licensed to practice nursing in Virginia.
