Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Kats served as law clerk to Judge John L. Badalamenti of the Florida Second District Court of Appeal. Prior to his clerkship, he completed an internship at the Office of the Florida Attorney General in Miami, where he worked on cases in the area of multi-circuit mortgage fraud and pharmaceutical adulteration under Florida’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. As a summer associate at a prominent civil rights firm, he took part in litigation challenging Florida’s same-sex marriage ban as unconstitutional.
Kats received his Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he was Executive Articles Editor of the Florida Law Review and received the Frank E. Maloney Award for Outstanding Law Review member. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Studies from Emory University.
