Katharine J. Neer Joins Greenberg Traurig from Governor’s Office

ALBANY, NY - May 16, 2017 – Katharine J. Neer, an attorney from the New York State Governor’s Office, where she served as Assistant Secretary for General Government and Financial Services since 2014, has joined the Government Law & Policy Practice in the Albany office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

At the Governor’s Office, Neer was a member of the state operations team overseeing policy and operations for six agencies: the Department of Financial Services; the State Insurance Fund; the Department of State; the Department of Tax and Finance; the Office of General Services; and the Gaming Commission.

“Katie is a dedicated, multi-dimensional lawyer with meaningful experience in government,” said Harold N. Iselin, managing shareholder of the law firm’s Albany office and co-chair of its Government Law & Policy Practice. “She will be an important addition to the multi-faceted Greenberg Traurig team.” Neer will be assisting clients on legislative and State regulatory issues. 

Neer joins Greenberg Traurig as an associate. She is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, where she spent her last semester in Washington, D.C. in the Student Honors Program, working for the Trial Unit in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Neer also attended Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy and received her Master’s in Public Administration, magna cum laude. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, magna cum laude, from the State University at Albany.
