Greenberg Traurig’s Pamela Madeiros Honored at ACDS Gala

ALBANY – Nov. 8, 2018Pamela A. Madeiros, a shareholder in the Education Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Albany office was honored at the ACDS Annual Gala in Old Bethpage, NY on Oct. 20, 2018. Madeiros was honored by the organization for her long-standing commitment and work on behalf of ACDS.

ACDS was founded in 1966 by a group of parents on Long Island who were seeking services for their young children with disabilities. Today it has grown into an agency that has served over 1,000 children and adults with Down syndrome, autism, and other developmental disabilities.

Madeiros focuses her practice on legislative and regulatory affairs. Her experience in identifying and resolving issues which blur distinction between health, mental health, and education policies is well established. She is a valued partner with the New York State Department of Education, including the Office of the Professions, relating to professional licenses; the Bureau of Proprietary School Services, relating to the approval and operation of trade and business schools; and the Office of College and University Evaluation, relating to accreditation, permission to operate, and general regulation of college and universities in New York State. She is an engaged participant in numerous task forces and advisory committees through her representation of special education programs, Children’s Day Treatment programs, Article 28 Clinics, and schools for the deaf throughout the state.

Prior to joining the firm, Madeiros served as Senior Counsel with the New York State Legislative Bill Drafting Commission and was responsible for introducing several Latin American delegations to the state legislative process through her involvement with the Rockefeller Institute.

Madeiros received her J.D. in 1983 from Albany Law School and her B.A., cum laude, in 1979 from Union College. She was recently recognized by Best Lawyers in America and has also been recognized by several other organizations including Easter Seals and The National Association of School Psychologists.
