Greenberg Traurig’s Eric Rosedale and Joel Rothstein Featured at PERE Investor Forum in Seoul

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Dec. 11, 2018 –  Eric Rosedale and Joel Rothstein of the global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP were featured speakers at the PERE Investor Forum Seoul 2018, held Nov. 28-29, in Seoul, South Korea.

The Forum, according to the PERE website, is positioned as Asia’s leading real estate event, focused on outbound real estate investment from South Korea to the rest of the world. Drawing over 250 leading real estate professionals, the event connected leading Korean institutional investors with fund managers and sponsors.

Joel Rothstein participated in a lively panel discussion titled, “Developed Markets: Let’s Play it Safe.” Drawing on his experience representing Asia-based institutional investors in cross-border equity and debt investment across both developed markets like the United States and developing markets such as China, Rothstein discussed why many Korean-based institutional investors are targeting developed markets over developing markets. He also illustrated, from a legal standpoint, the practical differences in executing deals as an institutional investor in leading developed vs. developing markets.

At the event, Greenberg Traurig also sponsored an elite invitation only LP investor breakfast briefing.  Led by Eric Rosedale, the breakfast briefing focused on key trends and issues in cross-border investment from Korea. Rosedale identified new and emerging trends in Korea-based outbound real estate investment, including the increasing focus on markets in Europe over traditional markets like the United States. He also focused on some of the important factors leading the trend such as the search for competitive yield and managing hedging costs.

Rosedale, a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s New York and Amsterdam offices, is the head of International Real Estate Practice Development at the firm. He is an acknowledged leader in the global emerging real estate markets arena, with particular emphasis on property and finance matters. He focuses his practice on real estate M&A and private equity matters for international real estate funds and private equity players, as well as developments and financings for multinational real estate companies. He is a well-known player in real estate private equity circles and represents an array of institutional real estate clients in all major real estate sectors.

Rothstein, a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, is chair of the firm’s Asia Real Estate Practice. An international real estate and structured finance lawyer with over twenty years’ experience in Asia, he is based in the firm’s Tokyo office and splits his time with the firm’s offices in Shanghai and Seoul. Rothstein advises investment banks, financial institutions, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, real estate developers, and investors across all major Asia markets with a particular focus on Greater China, Japan, and South Korea.
