Greenberg Traurig Atlanta Office Announces Partnership with Wellspring Living Women’s Academy

ATLANTA Jan. 28, 2019 – The Atlanta office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP recently formalized its partnership with Wellspring Living Women’s Academy. Founded in 2001, Wellspring Living offers life-changing residential and community-based programs to women survivors of sexual abuse, trafficking, and exploitation.

The Wellspring Living Women’s Academy offers participants a 10-week program focused on career training, followed by a 12-week apprenticeship at various companies and organizations in Atlanta. As part of the training, Greenberg Traurig attorneys and staff members host seminars on a variety of career-readiness topics. Additionally, the firm recently completed the first round of apprenticeships, where two women from the Women’s Academy joined the firm as apprentices. The firm will continue the apprenticeships as part of their partnership.

The firm’s commitment to fighting human trafficking through a holistic approach is a continuation of efforts by Theodore I. Blum, managing shareholder of the Atlanta office and chair of the Atlanta Corporate Practice. Blum serves as the chair for Rotary Club of Atlanta’s Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force.

“When I first learned about the crisis of human trafficking in Atlanta, the issue was overwhelming,” Blum said. “As a firm, we realized the way to support survivors of sexual exploitation is to focus on the individuals. Through partnering with the Women’s Academy, our staff and attorneys have been able to take an individualized and strengths-based approach, participate in networking sessions and mock interviews, hire apprentices, and of course celebrate the success of these women. We are honored to be a part of Wellspring’s Women’s Academy and eager to join other business and community leaders in Atlanta in continuing this service in 2019.”

“Wellspring Living is fortunate to have leaders in our business community that are committed to restoring the lives of the girls and women we serve,” said Mary Frances Bowley, executive director of Wellspring Living. “Our partnership with Greenberg Traurig plays an instrumental role in the restoration of our participants through life giving programs.”
