Greenberg Traurig Elevates 3 Attorneys in Atlanta Office

ATLANTA — March 4, 2019 — Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP elevated Atlanta office attorneys Álvaro Arce, Robert J. Finan, and Jake Phillips to of counsel.

Firmwide, Greenberg Traurig announced the elevation of 32 attorneys to shareholder and 27 to of counsel/counsel in more than 20 areas of legal practice. The firm, which earlier this year opened its 30th office in the United States and 39th worldwide, also reported a fifth consecutive year of record revenue of more than USD $1.55 Billion, an increase of USD $80 Million over 2017.

Arce helps his clients to develop strategies for leveraging music in their digital music services, social media platforms, mobile apps, video games, and other products and services, to connect end users with the music, artists, and content creators they love. He has broad experience negotiating with record labels, music publishers and rights collectives for everything from one-off clearances to expansive catalog deals. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Arce worked with both licensees and licensors, having held various roles at SoundCloud, MixRadio, and Warner Music Group.

Finan focuses his practice on transactional entertainment law. He regularly advises and counsels high-profile, multi-platinum recording artists, record producers, personal managers, publishing companies, and songwriters regarding legal and business transactions within the entertainment industries. Finan has experience negotiating and drafting myriad agreements in the music industry, including recording agreements, consulting agreements, record producer agreements, record distribution agreements, music publishing agreements, record mixer agreements, side artist and guest artist agreements, management agreements, license agreements (including master-use licenses, "sampling" licenses, synchronization licenses, "mechanical" licenses, etc.), and motion picture soundtrack agreements. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Finan served as manager, Business Affairs at Sony Music.

Phillips counsels entertainment and digital media companies, as well as high profile consumer brands, on intellectual property-related matters. His practice focuses on entertainment, media, intellectual property, and technology transactions. He also provides strategic advice and counseling related to new media business models, negotiation strategy, legal exposure, and risk avoidance to clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies with digital media and entertainment-related offerings to studios and established production companies to cutting-edge start-ups and tech companies. Phillips’ experience also includes policy-related advice, advocacy, and strategy, as well as entertainment, antitrust, and general commercial litigation. Prior to practicing law, Phillips was an actor, entrepreneur, and advocate for equal opportunities in childhood education.
