Lori Cohen Honored with Emory Law School’s 2019 Eléonore Raoul Trailblazer Award

ATLANTA – April 15, 2019 – Lori G. Cohen, co-chair of the Global Litigation Practice of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, received the Eléonore Raoul Trailblazer Award at the Emory Law Alumni Awards, held April 12 at the school during the Emory Law Alumni Weekend. The prestigious award, named for Eléonore Raoul, a national women’s suffrage leader and the first woman accepted to Emory University, recognizes an Emory Law alumna who has blazed a trail for others through professional and personal endeavors.

At Greenberg Traurig, Cohen leads a group of over 600 attorneys nationally and internationally. She is chair of the Trial Practice Group, her “brain child,” which she created at Greenberg Traurig. Cohen is also chair of the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation Practice, a nationally renowned group that she built upon joining the firm. Cohen is also co-chair of the Atlanta Litigation Practice and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

“Lori is a force of nature, an exceedingly rare legal talent. But she does not rest on that talent alone in the pursuit of justice for her clients. She out-thinks and outworks the other side; she tracks down every lead, closes every loophole. And she does it all while lifting and advocating those around her. She is peerless not only as a trial lawyer, but also as a mentor, leader, partner, and friend,” said Mary-Olga Lovett, senior vice president at Greenberg Traurig.

“I am truly honored and humbled to be recognized by my alma mater, Emory Law School,” said Cohen who serves as a member of the Emory Law School Advisory Board, as well as the Advisory Board for the Institute for Complex Litigation and Mass Claims. “Eléonore Raoul was a true trailblazer who showed courage and compassion in her in lifelong fight for justice and fairness. I am proud to walk in her footsteps and carry forth these goals.”

Ernest LaMont Greer, co-president of Greenberg Traurig, describes the extent of Cohen’s professional excellence: “Lori Cohen is one of the most caring, loyal, and respected leaders I know.  She is well-known for her tireless dedication to her clients and her tenacity in the courtroom.  And beyond that, Lori continually inspires her colleagues and peers, not only with her devotion to the profession of law, but as a champion for diversity and a mentor to young attorneys.”

Earlier this year, Cohen was recognized as “Product Liability Attorney of the Year” by Benchmark Litigation. She is one of two attorneys listed in The Legal 500 “Hall of Fame” for product liability litigation involving pharmaceutical and medical devices, and the only practitioner who is also listed in the “Hall of Fame” for Leading Trial Lawyers. In 2018, Cohen’s group was named The American Lawyer’s “Product Liability Litigation Department of the Year” and “Regional Litigation Department of the Year for Georgia” in 2018.
