Greenberg Traurig Advises HighBrook on Sale of Postbahnhof Building Ensemble in Berlin

Greenberg Traurig advised real estate private equity investor HighBrook on the sale of the historic Postbahnhof building ensemble in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The sale took place in two separate transactions with a total volume of approximately 163 million Euros.

The larger transaction involved the sale of an ensemble of loft office buildings comprising approximately 13,000 square meters, which Patrizia, a partner for real estate investments, acquired for an institutional client. The second transaction involved an adjoining property purchased by a local project developer in 2019.

The Postbahnhof is a listed building constructed in 1907 that used to serve as a rail hub for parcel delivery. It was converted in the mid-1990s. The site includes around 10,000 square meters of office space leased by e-commerce companies Zalando and Kayak. Another 4,000 square meters are used as event space.

Greenberg Traurig had also advised HighBrook on the purchase of the Postbahnhof site in 2018 and on its financing. Since then, the team has provided ongoing asset management support to the U.S. investor, particularly in the context of leasing. During the sale, Greenberg Traurig provided comprehensive advice on all legal aspects.

Background: Greenberg Traurig has advised HighBrook on several transactions in the Berlin real estate market, most recently on the acquisition of the Berlin office campus "Schuckert Höfe" in Berlin-Treptow together with BATO Group.
