Steven T. Cummings Presents at New York City Bar Association Blockchain Institute CLE

NEW YORK – Nov. 17, 2022 – Steven T. Cummings, an attorney in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Blockchain & Digital Assets Practice, presented on the Licensing and Taxation panel at the New York City Bar Association Blockchain Institute on Nov. 7. The panel discussed current legal issues that impact the development and use of blockchain technology and digital assets.

Cummings recently joined Greenberg Traurig as an associate in the Westchester County office as part of the firm’s strategic expansion of its Blockchain & Digital Assets Practice. The firm’s Blockchain & Digital Assets Practice is ranked in multiple jurisdictions in Chambers and Partners’ FinTech Guide, including the United States, Japan, Germany, Italy, and Mexico.

In his prior role as the Virtual Currency Applications Team lead for the New York State Department of Financial Services, Cummings supervised the evaluation of virtual currency applications for regulatory compliance with anti-money laundering, cybersecurity, and consumer protection requirements. His practice at Greenberg Traurig focuses on the regulation of financial services providers, including virtual currency companies, money transmitters, payment processors, and fintech companies.

As part of his professional associations, Cummings is a member the New York County Lawyers’ Association’s Committee on Professional Ethics and was co-chair of the Cryptocurrency & Cybersecurity Program, New York American Inns of Court, 2020.

Cummings received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University, where he was the executive editor of research and writing of the Albany Law Review and his B.A., summa cum laude, from State University of New York at Albany.
