ED Talks: Transformative Placemaking and the Post-Pandemic Economy, Tampa Bay Economic Development Council

Jennifer S. Vey is a Senior Fellow and the Director of the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Center for Transformative Placemaking at the Brookings Institution.   Placemaking is one of the three strategic goals that the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council set forth in its Opportunity Tampa Bay Strategic Action Plan. Designed to strengthen our competitiveness and position our community for more inclusive economic growth, placemaking will take center stage in 2021 as TBEDC continues to execute this plan.

This thought provoking discussion will show how transformative placemaking can help us build a better future and spur a more inclusive and equitable recovery. Sharing best practices from across the country, Vey will discuss how we can tackle the systemic barriers that many of our underinvested neighborhoods face and move them toward more broad-based community wealth.

Following Vey's presentation, TBEDC President & CEO, Craig J. Richard, will moderate questions from TBEDC Investors. Finally, you'll meet Tony Brown, TBEDC's new Director of Community Development. He'll provide more details about his role in marketing our Opportunity Zones and how he'll work with our partners at the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County to bring jobs and investment to these areas.
