Greenberg Traurig Honored with Multiple Awards at Global M&A Networks’ “Major Markets M&A Atlas Awards” Gala

NEW YORK – (June 13, 2014) - The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP received multiple honors at Global M&A Networks’ “Major Markets’ M&A Atlas Awards” Gala on June 12th, 2014.  The annual event, which was held at the Harvard Club of New York, honors excellence from around the world for managing M&A transactions valued at more than one billion dollars.  This year, awards were presented to deal teams representing 40 M&A transactions, seven “Outstanding Firms” and four “Global M&A Dealmakers of the Year.”  Greenberg Traurig was involved in 25% of the deals nominated.

The firm received the “Global M&A Deal of the Year Award ($1B-$5B USD)” for its contribution in Platform Acquisition Holdings’ acquisition of MacDermid.   The firm was also honored with the “Consumer Goods & Services Deal of the Year Award” for its representation of Jarden in its acquisition of Yankee Candle from Madison Dearborn, as well as the “Western Europe M&A Deal of the Year Award ($1B-$5B USD)” for its role in Eutelsat Communications’ acquisition of Satelites Mexicanos from investors including Centerbridge Partners and Monarch Alternative Capital.

In addition, Patricia Menéndez-Cambó, Co-Chair of the firm’s Global Energy & Infrastructure Practice, was selected by her peers as one of the “Top 50 Global M&A Lawyers” in recognition of her global transaction work, specifically in South America and Greenberg Traurig’s Latin America Practice.

Seven deals on which Greenberg Traurig was counsel to the financial advisor were shortlisted for awards, including two deals that won awards: Perrigo’s acquisition of Elan was named Global M&A Deal of the Year ($5B-$10B) and Grupo Modelo’s sale to Anheuser-Busch InBev was named Corporate M&A Deal of the Year ($10B+).
