HOUSTON and DENVER – Dec. 12, 2016 – Five shareholders from the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP were named to The Business Journals’ 2016-2017 list of “Who’s Who in Energy.” Douglas C. Atnipp, William Garner, and Alfredo Ramos were selected for inclusion in Houston’s energy market, while Troy A. Eid and Paul M. Seby were included in Denver’s energy market.
“Who’s Who in Energy,” a special section published in the Nov. 25, 2016, editions of the Houston Business Journal and the Denver Business Journal, profiles key energy industry professionals based in major cities across the United States. The list includes executives of energy companies in a range of areas, from exploration and production and oilfield services to law, engineering, and finance. Selections are based on nominations, industry outreach, and research, according to the publication’s website. The special section was also published in the business journals of three other U.S. cities: Dallas, Pittsburgh, and San Antonio.
Atnipp has more than 25 years of experience representing clients engaged in all facets of the energy business. He is involved in a wide range of energy-related transactions including energy finance, joint ventures and strategic alliances, and acquisitions and dispositions of energy-related assets.
Eid, a former U.S. Attorney for the District of Colorado and co-chair of the Greenberg Traurig’s American Indian Law Practice, is a shareholder in the firm's Denver office and has wide-ranging experience in complex federal, state, and tribal litigation. He has extensive experience in civil and criminal defense of energy companies in federal, state, and tribal investigations pursuant to the Clean Water Act and other environmental and safety laws. He also advises clients on traditional and renewable energy projects, coordinating environmental and cultural resource reviews, Native American tribal employment, construction-monitoring, and outreach and right-of way negotiations on public and private lands.
Garner, a shareholder in the Greenberg Traurig’s Houston office, chairs the firm’s Renewable Energy Practice and focuses his practice on domestic and international hydrocarbon and inert gas transactions and renewable energy. Garner has experience working on worldwide natural gas projects, including unconventional gas. He has worked on projects in the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Poland, Kazakhstan, U.A.E., Algeria, and Mexico. Garner provides counsel to major conventional and renewable energy companies.
Ramos concentrates his practice on energy and infrastructure/project development, with an emphasis on the upstream/midstream sectors and business interests throughout Latin America. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig and as in-house counsel, Ramos co-led the legal negotiations for the largest transaction in the history of Lewis Energy Group, LP, a multinational oil & gas operator, which involved the divestiture of a substantial portion of its producing and non-producing U.S. mineral holdings to BP America. He is a recognized leader in energy policy, has testified before the Texas Senate Natural Resources Committee on Mexico’s energy reforms and its impact on Texas, and frequently presents on energy issues affecting the U.S. and Latin America.
Seby is a leading practitioner in the Rocky Mountain region, with nearly 25 years' experience analyzing a myriad of environmental issues. He counsels public and private clients in the energy, mining, manufacturing, and service industries on how to navigate and successfully operate within the complex framework of state and federal environmental regulations and policies. Seby has vast experience prosecuting cases to enforce and overturn administrative agency regulations and decisions, and has defended clients in federal and state enforcement proceedings, in appearances before the U.S. Supreme Court, several U.S. Courts of Appeal, and the Colorado Supreme Court, among others.
