Environmental MVP: Greenberg Traurig's Paul M. Seby

Greenberg Traurig’s Paul M. Seby, who serves as North Dakota’s special assistant attorney general, cemented his spot among Law360’s 2016 Environmental MVPs by representing the state in litigation over some of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s most contentious regulations, including the Clean Power Plan and the Clean Water Rule.

Over the past year in his role for North Dakota, Seby has played an instrumental role in closely watched disputes concerning both of the agency’s hotly contested regulations, helping to secure decisions blocking them.

Mere days before U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s death in February, the high court's five conservative members voted to stay the EPA’s Clean Power Plan, a measure aimed at slashing greenhouse gas emissions at existing power plants, while it is challenged in court by dozens of industry groups and states including North Dakota.
