Ballon, co-chair of the Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice and shareholder at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will be speaking during the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP)’s Global Privacy Summit in Washington, D.C. Ballon will be speaking on a panel titled “Trends in Data Privacy, Security Breach and TCPA Class Action Litigation” from 10:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. on April 6, 2016. According to its website, the Summit, with 3,000+ attendees, brings together privacy commissioners, chief privacy officers from major corporations, experts, and academics as a forum for discussion and debate of privacy policy, to build community, assess the landscape, and exchange ideas.
Ballon’s panel discussion will focus on the key trends in data privacy, security breach, and TCPA class action litigation that will impact Internet and mobile businesses in 2016, 2017, and beyond. The panel will discuss the top 10 things a company should do to mitigate its risk of exposure and cover the latest legal developments and circuit splits that may require even sophisticated businesses to recalibrate their processes and procedures.
Ballon represents Internet, technology, mobile, and other companies in intellectual property, privacy, and security litigation, including the defense of data privacy, security breach, behavioral advertising, and TCPA class action suits. He is also the author of the leading treatise on Internet law, E-Commerce and Internet Law: Treatise with Forms 2nd edition, the 4-volume set published by West (www.IanBallon.net). In addition, he is the author of The Complete CAN-SPAM Act Handbook (West 2008) and The Complete State Security Breach Notification Compliance Handbook (West 2009).
