The Hollywood Reporter Recognizes Four Greenberg Traurig, LLP Entertainment and Media Attorneys

Dan Black, Joel Katz, Mathew Rosengart Named to 2016 ‘Power Lawyers’ List; Bobby Rosenbloum Featured for Top Music Industry Work

NEW YORK – April 20, 2016 – Daniel H. Black, Joel A. Katz, and Mathew S. Rosengart, shareholders at the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, have been featured in The Hollywood Reporter’s 2016 “Power Lawyers” list. The list includes 100 attorneys whose work behind the scenes most influences the entertainment business. Additionally, Shareholder Bobby Rosenbloum is included in the publication’s “Hollywood's Top Music Business Attorneys” section, which features 11 top attorneys in the music industry. According to its website, The Hollywood Reporter researches the biggest deals and lawsuits in the entertainment industry to determine the 100 most influential attorneys in Hollywood.

Black, based in the Los Angeles office, is chair of Greenberg Traurig’s West Coast Entertainment and Media Practice. He has extensive experience in the television, motion picture, and digital media arenas, having practiced law both in the major studio and law firm settings. Equally comfortable in the traditional and new media areas, representing corporations and individuals, Black has served as lead counsel on numerous transactions with the major motion picture studios and television networks, in addition to major Internet content producing, licensing, and advertising entities. Black’s clients include production and distribution, Internet, and video game companies, as well as advertising agencies, show runners and producers, and on-air television and sports personalities. He also possesses substantial experience in representing internationally-based clients in their entertainment endeavors.

Katz is chairman of Greenberg Traurig’s Global Entertainment and Media Practice. Katz, who is former chairman of the American Bar Association's Entertainment & Sports Law Section, is widely recognized as a leader in the field of entertainment law. His clients include some of the world's most well-known entertainers, music producers, record companies, concert promoters, and Fortune 500 companies. More than 30 years ago, he founded Katz, Smith & Cohen, which became one of the United States’ largest music entertainment law firms. In 1998, Katz joined his practice with Greenberg Traurig.

Rosenbloum, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta Entertainment and Media Practice, is one of the leading attorneys globally in the field of digital media, entertainment, and technology and represents dozens of leading technology companies and digital service providers that negotiate licensing deals with entertainment content owners. He also represents numerous recording artists, entertainment industry executives, and institutions, such as The Recording Academy and The Latin Recording Academy. Rosenbloum has over 20 years of experience negotiating complex content agreements with record companies, music publishing companies, music publishing rights organizations, motion picture studios, television networks, and various independent content providers and aggregators.

Rosengart is also based in the firm’s Los Angeles office. A former law clerk to Justice David Souter on the N.H. Supreme Court and Justice Department Trial Attorney, he is noted for representing a host of celebrity clients in entertainment matters. Rosengart’s practice focuses on entertainment and complex commercial litigation. A former federal prosecutor with substantial and diverse experience in entertainment litigation, Rosengart is noted for his trial experience and expertise, and for representing a number of Academy-Award-nominated writers, directors, and actors, as well as film production companies in high-profile entertainment litigation matters ranging from breach of contract to defamation to a range of film and television disputes.
