Greenberg Traurig’s Los Angeles Office Raises Over $10,000 Toward Food From the Bar Campaign

LOS ANGELES – June 10, 2016 – As part of an overall dedication to give back to local communities, global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Los Angeles office continued its commitment in the fight against food insecurity by fundraising for and volunteering with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’s annual Food From the Bar Campaign. Fundraising events included a silent auction, movie night, bake sale, and coin drive, ultimately raising a sum of $10,127.

During the month-long campaign, members of the Los Angeles legal community raise funds to provide meals to children during the summer months. Many children, who typically rely on school lunch programs during the academic year, will often go without meals during summer break and the Food From the Bar Campaign provides nutritious meals to them during this difficult time for many families.

Greenberg Traurig's Los Angeles office also organized a volunteer day during which a group of attorneys and staff worked at the Los Angeles Food Bank to assemble meal bags for seniors. The team put together more than 1,400 bags, each filled with enough food to nourish a senior citizen for one week.

“I am thrilled that Greenberg Traurig was once again able to provide tens of thousands of meals to underserved youth in our community, as well as roll-up our sleeves and work with the staff of the L.A. Food Bank to put together meal bags for seniors in our local communities,” said Mark J. Kelson, Los Angeles shareholder and member of the Los Angeles Food Bank’s board of directors. “Food is a right, not a privilege, and we are proud to be able to support this essential cause.”

The funds raised by the firm's Los Angeles office as part of the campaign will provide 40,508 meals to children throughout the community. For more information about the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, please visit www.lafoodbank.org.
