Steve Wadyka Presents at the 2017 ABA Forum on Entertainment and Sports Industries Annual Meeting

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Oct. 17, 2017 – Steven J. Wadyka, Jr., shareholder in the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, presented at “Hitting the Jackpot in Entertainment and Sports Law,” the ABA Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries 2017 Annual Meeting, Oct. 5-8, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mr. Wadyka participated in two panel discussions. The first, titled, “Around the World In 80 Minutes – Everything you need to know about the state of IP law and rights in the Americas, the European Union, and Asia,” included discussion on pending international agreements and legislation, as well as hot topics and issues that practitioners should be aware of. The panelists also delved into possible legal and business implications that these developments may have on the entertainment and sports industries and its players looking to do business in the United States and abroad. Mr. Wadyka addressed the recent developments in the European Union and their impact on content creators and sports figures. The second panel, titled, “Hot Trademark and Advertising Issues in the Entertainment and Sports Industries,” had speakers examine and discuss the latest cases and hottest issues in the entertainment and sports industries, including the latest developments in social media advertising. Mr. Wadyka addressed the recent court decisions where First Amendment issues posed obstacles to protecting and enforcing trademark rights.
