Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Give Back to Atlanta Community Through Volunteer Time and Service at Annual ServiceJuris Day

ATLANTA  – July 10, 2018 – The Atlanta office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP participated in the 19th annual ServiceJuris Day, June 23, with representation from more than 42 attorneys and their friends and family. Greenberg Traurig had the most volunteers of any organization, a distinction the firm has held for the last two years. This year’s ServiceJuris, a day of service provided by Georgia’s legal community, supported the Thomasville Heights Cluster Project as part of the larger effort from Hands on Atlanta.

For its part of the effort, Greenberg Traurig completed beautification projects at Thomasville Heights Elementary by laying mulch, assembling picnic tables, painting exterior walls and playground games, painting children’s restrooms, and planting fruits and vegetables.

Greenberg Traurig attorneys were also represented on the ServiceJuris Board. Associate Andrew Z. Smith served as the official team captain and will be the fundraising chair for 2018-2019.

“I first participated in ServiceJuris as a summer associate and remember how fun and rewarding it was to help the community with our Greenberg Traurig family—so when I was asked to be the captain of our team and serve on the board this year, I jumped at the opportunity,” Smith said. “Our office quickly garnered more volunteers than our project required which is a testament to our firm’s commitment to giving back to our community.”

“Greenberg Traurig is proud to be a part of the annual ServiceJuris event as it’s such a great way to give back to the city,” Ted Blum, managing shareholder of the Atlanta office, said. “It’s truly inspiring to see the Atlanta legal community coming together to make a powerful impact on the lives of those in need.”

Across Georgia’s legal community, 350 volunteers from more than 30 participating law firms and legal services companies turned out for the event. Throughout the history of ServiceJuris Day, thousands of volunteers have contributed more than 20,000 hours of service on projects including enriching the learning environments of public school students, renovating neighborhood parks, and enabling citizens to utilize their community centers.
