DENVER – September 12, 2018 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is co-hosting a panel discussion with the Denver Business Journal focused on Denver’s economic growth and transformation, Sept. 12, 2018. Following a keynote by Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock, community leaders will discuss how the last 10 years have impacted the Denver business community and have created a need for new policies to manage growth.
Michael R. McGinnis, administrative shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Denver office, will participate as a panelist in the discussion, titled “The Growth and Transformation of Denver’s Business, Political and Geographic Landscape,” moderated by Denver Business Journal Publisher Pete Casillas. Other panelists include Kim Day, CEO of Denver International Airport; Tamara Door, president and CEO of Downtown Denver Partnership; and Kevin Kelley, executive vice president of United Properties.
“Ten years ago,” McGinnis said, “we had a severe national recession, bringing development activities in the Denver area to a grinding halt. Due to a confluence of factors, over the past decade, we’ve seen significant development and transformation, particularly along the Front Range. I’m excited to join this stellar panel exploring this remarkable growth and forecasting what the future may hold.”
McGinnis, a member of the firm’s Public Finance and Corporate Practices, focuses on complex municipal and public finance matters and commercial transactions. He represents clients as bond counsel, disclosure counsel, underwriter's counsel, letter of credit bank counsel, purchaser's counsel, trustee's counsel, and borrower's counsel. Michael serves as disclosure and underwriter's counsel in connection with the issuance by governmental entities of general obligation and revenue bonds, general airport revenue bonds airport special facilities bonds, and revenue bonds for public utilities. He also served as counsel to a public private partnership (P3) concessionaire. McGinnis’ clients include water authorities, states, counties, special districts, and municipalities. He is also experienced in implementing and developing legal structures and strategies for transportation authorities, special taxing districts, and other governmental agencies.
McGinnis is a member of the Board of Directors for the Denver Metro Chamber Economic Development Corporation and the Aurora Economic Development Corporation, as well as a member of the American Association of Airport Executives.
