Greenberg Traurig Celebrates Earth Week 2019

Firm’s Philadelphia attorneys engages in a host of activities that commemorate, focus on environmental issues

PHILADELPHIA – April 29, 2019 – From dissecting current controversies about chemicals in Pennsylvania drinking water to exploring “green-collar” litigation matters to sloshing in the rain for a charity run, attorneys from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP placed a firm imprint on Earth Week 2019.

“Our Environmental Practice provides innovative legal solutions for our clients and is a cornerstone practice – both for the firm and for this office,” said Curtis B. Toll, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Philadelphia office. “What better time to showcase the diverse and talented environmental lawyers we have here than during Earth Week?”

Toll, who specializes in evaluating and managing environmental risks in the acquisition, development, financing, and sale of environmentally impacted real estate, is one of the practice’s eight Philadelphia-based attorneys. That cohort also includes the firm’s global Environmental Practice Co-Chair David G. Mandelbaum.

The Earth Week-related activities featuring Greenberg Traurig attorneys included:

  • A CLE presentation on managing legal risks and regulatory confusion concerning emerging contaminants at the Association of Corporate Counsel of Greater Philadelphia’s 11th Annual In-House Counsel Conference, led by Shareholder Caleb J. Holmes and Associate Kaitlyn R. Maxwell;
  • A joint panel discussion and networking event with the Philadelphia Chapter of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association. The panel of attorneys, state, and federal regulators focused on environmental criminal enforcement and corporate monitorships and included Shareholders Jillian C. Kirn and Jessica Natali and
  • Participation in various levels – from the 3K walk to the 10K race – at the 2019 Run for Clean Air, an annual event presented by the Clean Air Council.

“We wanted to both explore the substantive and ongoing challenges facing clients as well as take the opportunity to celebrate the values of Earth Day with our neighbors and partners across the city,” Toll said.

These events followed the firm’s regular participation in the Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s annual Environmental Law Forum, which took place in Harrisburg earlier in the month. That two-day event features insights from the best legal minds from across the Commonwealth – including Holmes, Maxwell, and Mandelbaum, a long-standing course planner for the forum.
