Greenberg Traurig Named Law Firm of the Year by Latin Builders Association

MIAMI – Sept. 26, 2019 – The Latin Builders Association (LBA), the largest Hispanic construction association in the United States, recognized global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. as its 2019 “Law Firm of the Year.”

Greenberg Traurig has been a recipient of this award three times — previously being recognized in 2016 and 2017. The award is presented to law firms for their expertise in working with the business community and the construction industry in South Florida. Nominations are submitted by fellow LBA members and voted on by the organization’s 750 member companies.

Established in 1971, the LBA is the largest Hispanic construction association in the United States. The nonprofit organization encompasses a vast array of individuals and companies related to South Florida’s vibrant construction industry, according to the organization’s website. The association provides a forum for discussion, networking, training, development, and representation at local and state levels.

Iris Escarra, co-chair of the firm’s Miami Land Development and Zoning Practice, accepted the award on behalf of the firm at the annual awards ceremony on Sept. 20 at the Hilton Downtown in Miami. Escarra serves as a board member of the LBA.

“We are honored to be recognized by the Latin Builders Association and remain committed to doing our part to make South Florida an increasingly better community to live and work,” Escarra said. “Greenberg Traurig has worked closely with the LBA members for more than 50 years to shape the region’s growth and are proud of our Miami roots.”

Greenberg Traurig's Land Development Practice represents landowners, joint venture partners, and entrepreneurs in developing the full-cycle of real estate projects, from financing to the issuance of building permits, and certificates of occupancy to development. Aspects of representation encompass due diligence investigations, site plan approval and rezoning applications, special permits, variances, designations and alterations of landmarked buildings, public and private financing, land use appraisals and entitlements, construction financing and permitting, and air rights and utilities transactions.

In addition, land development attorneys have broad litigation experience, including administrative and civil litigation in state and federal tribunals, at both the trial and appellate levels, on behalf of clients facing potential liability for environmental, zoning, and complex land uses issues.
