Veteran Products Liability Litigator Enjoliqué Aytch Lett Rejoins Greenberg Traurig

MIAMI – Nov. 19, 2020 Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. continues to expand its Miami Products Liability Practice with the addition of Enjoliqué Aytch Lett, who leads bet-the-company litigation on behalf of domestic and international drug and medical device manufacturers. She most recently served as the lead attorney for Akerman LLP’s medical device group.

Lett has worked as lead counsel in all aspects of mass tort and multi-district litigation, and has substantial experience and background defending high-exposure medical malpractice actions for physicians and hospitals. In addition, Lett has represented high-profile clients in complex commercial litigation, including Under Armour. She will continue to represent Taishan Gypsum Co. Ltd.

This is a homecoming for Lett, who was an associate and member of the Products Liability Practice in Greenberg Traurig’s Atlanta office from 2009-2012, before serving as law clerk with the Honorable Marcia G. Cooke, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, from 2012-2014.

“We are thrilled to have Enjoliqué as part of our team once again, where our clients will benefit from her exceptional skill and commitment to client service,” said Lori G. Cohen, chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation Practice, who also serves as vice chair of Greenberg Traurig, co-chair of the firm’s Global Litigation Practice, and chair of the Trial Practice Group. “Her vast experience in litigating products liability matters in federal courts throughout the nation syncs perfectly with our practice as we continue to serve an increasing number of clients nationally from Atlanta, Miami and in the firm’s offices across the country.”

Lett’s arrival at Greenberg Traurig follows that of Shareholder Rebecca A. Ocariz and associate Akiesha Gilcrist Sainvil, who joined the firm’s Miami Products Liability Practice over the last year. The practice is led by Shareholder Sabrina R. Gallo.

“It is great to be back on the team, and especially to again work with Lori, who has been an invaluable mentor to me,” said Lett, who served as lead counsel in the nation’s first hernia mesh medical device litigation case at her previous firm. “Greenberg Traurig’s stellar reputation as the go-to counsel in the products liability space, along with the firm’s international platform that puts attorneys on the ground for clients, wherever and whenever needed, are huge benefits for my growing practice. I look forward to working closely with Lori and Sabrina, as we further build on the success of the team.”

Lett is active in the industry, where she served as the Product Liability SLC Diversity Liaison and currently chairs the Philanthropic Activities Committee for the Products Liability Committee of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), which is the largest international membership organization of attorneys defending the interests of business and individuals in civil litigation. Its membership includes defense attorneys and in-house counsel.

Passionate about service where she works and lives, Lett devotes her time and efforts to the South Florida community. She serves as Pro Bono Chair for the South Florida Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and mentors students at the University of Miami and Florida International University. She also mentors former prisoners returning to society through a partnership with the Southern District of Florida’s Court Assisted Reentry (C.A.R.E.) Program. Lastly, Lett serves as the Miami City Co-Lead for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, where she was a fellow in 2017.

As part of her commitment to pro bono service, Lett recently was part of a team who represented the Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP), a nonprofit organization comprising of current and former police officers, prosecutors, judges, and other law enforcement officials, as an amicus curiae against New York City’s police and fire unions. Lett’s team was successful for LEAP in its attempt to enjoin a new law that advances law enforcement transparency.

“We look forward to Enjoliqué becoming an integral part of our Miami Products Liability Practice, which has been growing at a phenomenal pace in recent years to meet the demand of clients,” said Miami office Co-Managing shareholders Jaret L. Davis and Yosbel A. Ibarra in a joint statement. “Her legal talent, strong commitment to client service, and devotion to serving the South Florida community are attributes that fit perfectly within our culture at Greenberg Traurig.”

Lett received her J.D. cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law and a B.A. from American University.
