Greenberg Traurig Opens AAPI Heritage Month and Denounces Hateful Targeting of Asian Americans Triggered by COVID-19 Crisis

New York – April 28, 2020 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP on the eve of celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month reaffirms its denouncement of hate and racism directed at Asians and Asian-Americans during the novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“Racism and hate are simply unacceptable and should be loudly and clearly rejected and stood up against in any situation,” said Brian L. Duffy, Greenberg Traurig Chief Executive Officer. “In these unprecedented times, that should be even more apparent, when our heroes on the frontlines are of every color and background. Diversity and inclusion remain critical drivers of success, for our firm, our country, and our world.”

The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) recently issued a letter addressing the situation whereby its members and larger community have been subject to widespread harassment based on race.

A long-standing NAPABA member firm, Greenberg Traurig attorneys across the country serve or have served in leadership positions in the organization.

"Recognizing we are stronger together has long been a core value and positive attribute that sets this firm apart," said Chinh Pham and Magan Ray, shareholders and co-chairs of Greenberg Traurig’s Asian-American Affinity Group, which includes Pacific Asian-American and South Asian-American attorneys and operational leaders. "As we embark upon AAPI month and spotlighting the many contributions of Asian Americans, we are hopeful that others will model our firm's leadership and ongoing commitment to identifying and cultivating potential among people of all backgrounds, and the opportunities they present.”

From its inception, Greenberg Traurig, with 2200 attorneys in 41 offices around the world, has been committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
