WARSAW, June 24, 2021 - The Warsaw Office of Greenberg Traurig was awarded the prestigious Poland Firm of the Year award at the highly esteemed Euromoney Legal Media Group “Women in Business Law Awards 2021 Europe”. The awards celebrate law firms that have developed strong innovative practices and projects that highlight gender diversity, as well as women lawyers working in business law. This year’s winners were announced in a virtual ceremony held on 24 June 2021.

In the 2020 edition of the Women in Business Law Awards, Partner Agnieszka Stankiewicz was named “Best in Real Estate”. The award recognized her as the best female lawyer in Europe specializing in real estate. Jolanta Nowakowska-Zimoch, Head of the Warsaw Real Estate practice, won the title in the 2019. This year, Senior Associate Paulina Kimla-Kaczorowska was nominated as a Finance Rising Star.

“Greenberg Traurig has been developing and acting on various influential initiatives in gender diversity. The firm has been developing strong programmes that are aimed at the mentorship and development of women. Greenberg Traurig has worked to promote women in the practice of law at every level within the firm. Among the firms in Poland, Greenberg Traurig has taken a definitive position to see women in positions of leadership, both at the managerial and executive level,” said John Harrison, Women in Business Law Awards research lead.

“Greenberg Traurig is honored to be selected as the Women in Business Law Awards 2021 Poland Firm of the Year. This is yet another exceptional award for us, following the 2021 IFLR Law Firm of the Year for Poland recognition. It marks the pinnacle of all of our efforts undertaken in such an unprecedented year. We are also delighted that for three years in a row, the Greenberg Traurig Warsaw team has been recognized for both individual and office-wide achievements. It is clear to me that if we want to see true change in women’s empowerment, we need to make this happen by creating and actively supporting progressive initiatives for the inclusion of women in the legal profession,” said Jolanta Nowakowska-Zimoch.

Jolanta Nowakowska-Zimoch will soon become the new Managing Partner of the Warsaw Office of Greenberg Traurig, succeeding Jarosław Grzesiak who has managed the office for over 20 years. The recent announcement of the leadership change marks the 30th anniversary of the presence of the firm's team on the Polish market and is the culmination of a long-term transformation plan and implementation of the firm's strategy.

The Warsaw office, where almost 60% of the team are women, strongly supports the inclusion and advancement of women in the legal profession through a unique program and resources designed to benefit the firm’s attorneys, clients, and future lawyers. With its involvement in both internal and external initiatives, the firm is dedicated to fostering the success of women attorneys.

The “Europe Women in Business Law Awards” are organized by Euromoney Legal Media Group. The award series honors firms that have developed progressive initiatives towards diversity and inclusion as well as women attorneys who are at the forefront of their practice areas and are leaders in business law. Criteria for the firm awards include the ratio of female-to-male lawyers (at all levels of seniority), the retention of women associates to partner level and relevant diversity initiatives. Individual winners are selected based on their professional accomplishments as well as advocacy and influence over the last 12 months.
