Puerto Rico Day at the Capitol

The Legal Services Clinic of the Puerto Rican Community is hosting Puerto Rico Day 2020 in Tallahassee.  Since 1999, the Florida Legislature has celebrated the contributions of Puerto Rican Floridians and culture on Puerto Rico Day, an annual bipartisan
event at the Capitol. Puerto Ricans in Florida constitute a strong constituency with the political power to influence national, state, and local elections. It is imperative that this community be heard in the State Capitol.  As you may know, there are now in excess of one million Floridians who self-identify as Puerto Ricans, nearly overpassing the number in New York for the first time in history. The fiscal crisis in Puerto Rico will continue to drive migration out of the island and into the states, with Florida being the number one destination.
