Game Developers Now Need Strong IP Strategy

The mobile video game industry continues to expand at a rapid pace. According to video game research firm Newzoo, the industry is set to reach $25 billion in global revenue in 2015, which is a 43 percent increase over mobile game revenues recorded for 2013.[1]

Along with the increase in gaming on mobile devices, the market is seeing a convergence of gaming with other media such as audio, video and social networking. New applications have also emerged, perhaps most notably, in the area of competitive video game playing. This type of video gaming is gaining popularity in the U.S. and is breaking into the mainstream world — emerging technology companies, standard athletic programs, and even higher education institutions are jumping on the virtual band wagon.
