Cooper received the distinguished “Music Attorney of the Year Award” at A&R Worldwide’s International Music Industry Awards 2014. Cooper was recognized for “his outstanding contributions to The Worldwide Music Industry.” He accepted the award at the 10th annual MUSEXPO music conference held on April 9 in Los Angeles.
The founder of Greenberg Traurig’s Los Angeles Entertainment & Media practice, Cooper is known throughout the entertainment industry for his four decades of deal making and balanced understanding of both the artist and business. He focuses his practice on music industry, motion picture, television, multimedia and intellectual property issues. Cooper lectures at universities such as Harvard, USC, UCLA, and Michigan and displays his musicianship with the Los Angeles Big Band Barristers & the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic.
Cooper currently serves as an Advisory Board Member, Entertainment Law Initiative of The Recording Academy, is Co-Chairman, Alliance of Artists & Recording Companies, a Board Member of SoundExchange, and the former President of The Recording Academy. He has previously been the recipient of the Entertainment Law Initiative (ELI) Service Award and has been named the Entertainment Attorney of the Year by numerous professional organizations, including the Beverly Hills Bar Association Entertainment Law Section, the Century City Bar Association and the LA County Bar Association’s Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law Section.
