Greenberg Traurig Receives Gold Award Recognition at JDRF Walk Awards Night

BOCA RATON – July 3, 2014 – International law firm Greenberg Traurig received the Gold Award recognition from JDRF’s Greater Palm Beach County Chapter (formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) for the firm’s fundraising efforts in connection with the Walk to Cure Diabetes. The Gold Awards honor the Top 10 corporate and family fundraising teams from the Boca Raton two-mile walk held in April at the Mizner Park Amphitheater. Greenberg Traurig’s walk team raised $7,275 to benefit JDRF.

In total, the 2014 Boca Raton Walk raised more than $375,000 -- its highest grossing fundraising in the chapter’s history. This year’s donations will help to fund research, support the development of life-saving technology and clinical trials.

“I would like to congratulate the members of the Greenberg Traurig team for their dedication and efforts in making this event a tremendous success,” said Rebecca G. DiStefano, corporate chair of the Boca Raton walk. “Giving back to the community is part of our corporate culture and something we are strongly committed to at Greenberg Traurig.”

DiStefano, a shareholder in the Corporate and Securities practice of the Boca Raton office of Greenberg Traurig has served on the Board of Directors for the JDRF of Greater Palm Beach County since 2013.

According to Esther Swann, JDRF development coordinator, “Working alongside Ms. DiStefano and Greenberg Traurig, was indeed a privilege.  Their partnership and dedication to help JDRF raise awareness about diabetes, the walk and funds to support research, helped JDRF reach this year’s fundraising milestone.”
