Greenberg Traurig Launches Trade Secret Law Evolution Podcast

LOS ANGELES – August 12, 2019 –Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has launched the Trade Secret Law Evolution Podcast, offering comprehensive summaries and concrete takeaways on the latest developments and trends in trade secret law. The podcast is available on the Greenberg Traurig website, as well as on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Spotify. Episodes to-date include:

Episodes address developments in the law since the previous episode, and conclude with key takeaways. The podcast is designed to help business leaders, in-house counsel, and entrepreneurs stay current on trade secret law, to help them best protect their companies’ most valuable assets.

The podcast was created by Shareholder Jordan D. Grotzinger, who co-chairs the Los Angeles Litigation Practice. Working with his Knowledge Solutions group and other key team members, Grotzinger says he created the podcast to systematize his continuous learning of this important and evolving area of the law as it develops in real time.

“Trade secret law is a passion of mine because it’s central to so many dynamic companies that push us forward,” Grotzinger says. “Staying current in this area is key but can be tedious, so I looked for audio content that could give me a ‘download’ on real-time developments when I commute or go to the gym. I didn’t find what I was looking for, so I decided to create it. The podcast forces me to do the ‘homework’ of identifying and understanding cases worth talking about, then summarizing them in a format that listeners can quickly and easily digest when they wouldn’t otherwise be working. This is really valuable to me, and hopefully to our listeners.”

Topics include distinctions between the Uniform Trade Secrets Act (UTSA) and the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA), what constitutes a trade secret, what’s required to maintain trade secret status, how to sufficiently identify trade secrets for purposes of pleadings and discovery, remedies for misappropriation and how to get them, and practical tips to protect these critical assets and litigate these cases.

Grotzinger is a business trial lawyer focusing on trade secret law, consumer class action defense, financial services and entertainment litigation in federal and state courts. He has tried jury and non-jury cases throughout California and has argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the California Court of Appeal.
